I’ve been busy since Thursday showing Tony and Rita around parts of Berlin. They live in London and I met Tony many years ago when I went to university. He is now a lecturer at London University. I last saw them about five years ago when we went to Ian and Birgit’s chalet in Austria to enjoy a week of skiing. Tony had been to Berlin before but not Rita. They both settled very quickly into life here and even visited a friend from the US who lives in the west of the town with his family. On Thursday I met them at their hotel on Fischerinsel in the centre. We explored the area taking in the town hall and many other interesting buildings, statues and historical sights. We ended the day at my place for supper and agreed on a plan for next day.
We met and took the S-Bahn to Potsdam. Here we visited all the main sights in the old centre of the town including a number of palaces. They later met their friend and went back with him to have a festive evening with his family. Today I took them to Müggelsee to Berlin’s largest lake. They really liked it and now have a list of other places to visit on their visit to Berlin planned for next Spring.
